A thread maybe to start talking about dates for development.

FundCamp France possibly in Feb-March 2008
Just an update to try sizing what we can put in place for when.
Dates for the actual FundCamp France tend to organize around something like Feb-March 2008. Working backwards, that would mean having people registering and providing content by something like January (meaning decide what we put in place to accept applications and let people interact). And we'll start communicating heavily around the organization of a FundCamp France something like end Nov - beginning Dec (first step to let people interact - could be as simple as a wiki).
OK, so these are rough estimates but we should see what we want to put in place and probably not be too ambitious for this first edition.

Ok, I think we should be able to have a fundamental, working Drupal system going by then.
What are we missing right now in this Drupal system to make it useable right now?

Agreeing on do-able Functional Specs
I think we need two basic things:
- First, a place where people can discuss, present their project, cooperate. This could be as simple as a forum. One (big) step further is the discussion we have been having about people having profiles, creating bios, and finding each other through some match search.
- Second, a place where people can put the necessary information for application and receive feedback. That can be as simple as a form where they answer a series of question (we'll need to set security so that they, and authorized investors see the content of the form).
One thing I think we should shoot for is to avoid any exchange through emails because it is unreliable (because of spam filter), you can not track them easily, you can not give feedback in a structured way.
I've been thinking that we should organize a flashmeeting in the next few weeks to agree on what we thing we could put in place.

PS: I forgot also that we need something in French...or maybe not, I have to test the water on this.
Email
I agree about discussions in email. On the site would be better, overall.

Flashmeeting
Good idea. I think we can definitely do everything we've talked about here.
Maybe we will, in the long run, keep http://platform.fundcamp.org as the ongoing development site for the FundCamp platform, and we'll recreate this in another instance of Drupal, for the actual France FundCamp coming up, and pick and choose the features out of our prototype here that you actually want to use?
Plus, you may prefer to have French interface for the France site? There are translations already available.

Mini-project plan for FCF 2008
Here are a couple of dates and corresponding features I've just been thinking of for FundCamp France 2008. A first shot that we can refine, but this could give us a baseline for synchronizing.
- end Nov 2007: we should have something ready when we make the official announcement of FCF 2008
minimal: something that allows for standard Web 2.0 interactions (forum + wiki)
nice to have: maybe something around the bios
- mid Jan 2008: this could be the opening of the application process
minimal: a private form where people can start entering answers to the application form
nice to have: the interaction features between mentors and entrepreneurs
- end Feb 2008: closing of the application process
minimal: a way to collect, comment and provide structured feedback on the application forms. Applicants would not see this until the selection process is closed
nice to have: interactive work (by investors) on the selection process based on the application forms
- early March 2008: projects nominated for FCF 2008 are announced
minimal: entrepreneurs have access to the feedback on their form
nice to have: anonymized feedback accessible by (everyone?) every applicants
- post FCF 2008 ( post March 2008): projects not selected for financing by investors should be able to continue interacting together and the communuty
minimal: hum, I don't know
nice to have: a full blown P2PVenture platform ;-)

For end Nov 2007
I've started to think we should be having a main wiki at http://fundcamp.org working very similarly to http://barcamp.org and acting as a central directory for the different fundcamps. I already set-up http://wiki.fundcamp.org to start working on this wiki and have it ready for end-Nov. I still have to modify LocalSettings.php to use shortURL so that http://fundcamp.org/FundCampFrance2008 points to a page on this wiki.
Concerning the platform supporting the organization process of FundCampFrance 2008 (actually we still have to decide what's going to be the final name, but that's not important at our stage), I think we should have drupal install instance in French (I'm not familiar with the way you set-up alternative languages in drupal). I still don't know what should be the url to access this instance (maybe http://platform.fundcamp.org/FundCampFrance2008 or something else).

Bios
Ok, I am back, sorry for absence, had an illness in family.
So, what would you like to see in the bios, as mentioned in "end of nov 2007"?

bios and expertise
Really sorry to hear about the illness. I received your mail and read about it here and there. Hope things have turned for the better.
For Bios, I think that what we have is a pretty good start.
Maybe we could have a field to give a url to a LinkedIn profile.
Then we could have a set of check boxes for people to declare their expertise in different pre-specified fields. We are thinking of organizing a Technology-Media-Telecom FundCamp; we already have identified a couple of specific areas (software, services,...); maybe we could let people tick their top fields.

Specified fields
Maybe for the sake of bervity, you can just go ahead and let me know exactly what all you'd like to see in the bio, and I can make it happen real quick?
What fields exactly would you like to see as check boxes (I am ok with whatever they are, I just want to get them in there for you)?

Ok, about pre-specified fields
Ok, looksl ike a good idea. If we make it part of taxonomy, then people can also be findable by the choices they tick off...
